Americans today are somewhat obsessed with their physical appearances. With the aging members of the baby boomer era, methods that can maintain a youthful appearance are in high demand. Whether it be diets, exercise programs, cosmetics or cosmetic surgery, preserving youth has become big business. For many who have reached middle age, the most obvious sign can be seen in the face. Lines, wrinkles and that dreaded double chin, have become the bane of existence for many. However, there are economical and healthful ways to look and to feel better. For those with faces that have become round a bit saggy over the years, there are methods that detail how to lose facial fat.
Facial fat is usually the lingering of baby fat in younger people. However, those who are middle-aged find that their faces have become rounded over time. This gradual accumulation of facial fat is primarily due to hormonal changes that occur with age. For men, the testosterone that once gave them chiseled facial features, has severely declined. When men stop producing high levels of this male hormone, it is replaced with higher levels of the female hormone estrogen. This hormone increases fat deposits in the face as well as around the waist.
Women who reach peri-menopause may find that their faces have also become more rounded. Hormonal changes are the culprit in these situations as well.
What also happens to most people who become a member of the middle age, is that their physical activity has decreased over the years. Often times, this decrease has nothing to do with any type of physical limitations. Therefore, this can be one of 10 great reasons to join a gym. For men, lifting weights will naturally increase testosterone production. This may result in the return of the desired chiseled facial features. Women may find similar results by regularly performing weight bearing exercises.
A healthy diet along with some focused exercises may restore the youthful appearance of those who have reluctantly fallen into the category of middle-age. For those who do not wish to engage in cosmetic surgeries such as liposuction or face lifting procedures, they may find the gym to be a much more satisfying and affordable alternative
