Fasting To Lose Weight
The web and so many other sources are all full of information about weight loss. Diet fads abound everywhere, but the sad truth is that these fads and trendy diets are all a means to generate more money. One of the most primitive and old fashioned ways to lose weight is through fasting. Although fasting to lose weight is not considered to be a very healthy practice, it is still very effective.
What is Fasting?
Simply stated, fasting is abstinence from any food group or drink, but take note that this should not mean completely abstaining from eating. This practice is much more dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. In order for fasting to work, it is best to first know what your goals are because it can only work if you apply a strict eating regimen along with an exercise plan. Otherwise, it could be useless. As soon as you have determined your goals, it is now time to apply the principle of fasting in you daily routine.
Fast Weight Loss
Beginners should begin a fast diet gradually because it is dangerous and even harmful for someone to completely dive head on into fasting. With that said, it is also important to still have enough nutrients so as not to starve yourself. A lot of people believe in intensely undergoing such routines, but this route is not only counter-productive, it is also detrimental to your health.
When people go on an all-out ‘no eating’ plan, this sometimes causes them to go into a state of shock. Their bodies subsequently turn to their muscles and their insides for food. This is almost near starvation. Once this happens, your body will slow down, regress, and eventually breakdown. Furthermore, when someone does not eat, they actually tend to burn fewer calories than if they were eating. This is because the body signals that there is a deficiency of food, and therefore should conserve energy in order to survive. A very bad decision indeed.
The right way to fast is to eat only one type of food group in moderation. Also, it would be more beneficial for someone to eat six times a day to further speed up the metabolism. Along with this plan, it would be even more advantageous for someone to start exercising. Remember that in order to attain fast weight loss, you would need to diet well and exercise hard. Fasting alone is okay, but it would be more helpful on your part if you could add work outs to your regimen.

I have been fasting all of my life and I am sorry to tell you that you are mistaken.
I have fasted for up to 21 days on just water, lemon juice and maple syrup, and done numerous shorter fasts on just water alone for all of my adult life and I am 58. The energy one feels on about day 3-4 of no food whatsoever is extremely exhilarating and highly recommended.
Fasting is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body, that is to give it a rest from digesting food so that it is able to complete the work of the immune system to heal us. Read More @ http://thethrash.com/2009/06/28/day-21-of-my-fast/
