Everyone knows The Biggest Loser is a hit as a television show but how does it rate as a Wii fit game? The reviews are in and, for the most part, The Biggest Loser for Wii is just about as popular as the TV show.
Arriving at the Biggest Loser’s Ranch
There are a few choices you can make when you first arrive at the ranch. You can either choose Quick Play so you can look over the routines, you can opt to jump right in there and do a workout, or you can choose to start a new game or challenge.
If your choice is to join a fitness program, 8 contestants from previous shows will enter in the competition. Choose one of those contestants to represent yourself and enter in your vital statistics. Then it’s time to decide whether you prefer a program that is light, intermediate or intense and decide if you want a 4, 8 or 12 week program. You also need to decide how much, if any, weight you want to lose. The Biggest Loser will then customize a program specifically for your needs. One more important decision: do you want Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper as your personal trainer?
Accessories Needed for the Biggest Loser for Wii
One of the nice things about The Biggest Loser compared to other Wii games is the fact that you don’t need a lot of extra gadgets. Besides the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, the only other recommended piece of equipment is the Wii Balance Board, though it is optional. At least 66 of the 88 exercises on this software can be used with the Balance Board, which is extremely responsive. It even acts as your scale and will weigh you.
The Biggest Loser’s Exercises
The Biggest Loser has been reviewed as one of the best Wii games in the fitness category because of its wide variety of exercises. DThere are 88 different exercises contained within this video game. An on screen character give’s you clear directions for doing each exercise properly and there are meters that show you how well you’re doing the exercise while sharing other valuable information.
The exercises range from upper and lower body strengthening exercises to cardio, core and yoga poses. Although the exercises are widely varied, the majority of them are callisthenic-type exercises that require no additional equipment. You’ll be familiar with many of the exercises, but even if you aren’t, the clear directions and demonstrations make your moves intuitive. You can do the exercises singly or choose an exercise routine.
