After you eat food or drink your favorite beverage, left over remnants start building up bacteria in and around your teeth. Sugars are like catalysts to this bacteria and helps build it faster. This bacteria is known as plaque and if not taken care of will turn into tarter. Tarter is a hardened version on plaque and will be very damaging and difficult to remove. 3 Tarter Fighting Tips
1. Use an antiseptic mouth wash at least once a day. A good mouth wash will kill any left over bacteria that is hanging around your mouth, and freshen up your breath. Mouth wash can get under your gum line to help fight gum disease. Try and use a product that contains fluoride and is low in alcohol, alcohol can dry out your gums.
2. Floss at least once a day. Flossing not only cleans out the plaque built up between your teeth, where your tooth brush cannot get to, it also build strong gums. Your gums need to be stimulated in order to grow strong. Using floss ever night will gently massage your gums to health.
3. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, unless told otherwise by your dentist. You should brush in the morning to build a protective layer for the day as well as brush at night to clean off any left over plaque from the days activities.
